Hotels in Amsterdam with cheap and free parking

Hotels in Amsterdam with cheap and free parking | Every year, hundreds of thousands of visitors come to Amsterdam by car. However, the city with its canals and narrow streets in the historic city centre is not made for cars and the necessary parking spaces. In addition to the tourists, there are also the residents of Amsterdam and a large number of commuters who regularly go to work in the Dutch metropolis.

This means that there is usually heavy traffic in the streets inside and outside the famous canal belt. In order to maintain the quality of life for residents and make the city attractive for tourists, parking in the city centre is only available to those with deep pockets. Parking spaces in Amsterdam are rare and expensive. There are hardly any exceptions. Read my article on parking in Amsterdam.

During a visit to Amsterdam, you can easily reach all the top sights and attractions of the canal city on foot, by bike, public transport or the popular Hop-On Hop-Off buses.

When booking a hotel in the typical centre of Amsterdam, the only option for drivers is to book a hotel garage for a fee, the expensive nearest multi-storey car park or the immense cost of parking on the roadside.

Where can you park cheaper?

For a day trip to Amsterdam, the parking fees for a few hours’ stay in the canal city are usually manageable. Overnight guests, on the other hand, have few options when it comes to finding a cheap parking space for their vehicle. A centrally located accommodation with a quick and direct connection to a P+R car park, as described in my article Parking in Amsterdam, can be a solution.

The hotels with inexpensive or free parking spaces at the accommodation are usually located outside, but are therefore easily accessible by car. I have selected a few hotels, but please always bear in mind the cost of using public transport.

Hotel and P+R car park

The starting point is the Sloterdijk P+R car park, Piarcoplein 1, 1043 DW Amsterdam at exit S102 from the A10. From here you have a quick connection to the centre of Amsterdam by tram, bus and train. Using a P+R car park is always a bit tricky, as described in Parking in Amsterdam, but if you do everything right, you can park your car here for a maximum of 96 hours at a reasonable price.

Hotel with convenient car park

An interesting parking option is of course always the hotel’s own car park. But even the large hotel chains inside and outside the city centre of Amsterdam hardly offer cheap or free parking. Exceptions may be accommodation near the airport with poor public transport connections. You then have to take a time-consuming shuttle bus to the airport and from there by train or bus to Amsterdam.

✅ Tip: Buy a parking ticket at the Leonardo Hotel. Secure parking at the Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandtpark. You have a free choice of accommodation, but you can also book a room directly at the hotel.

Hotel parking spaces in the centre of the canal city cost between 25.00 and 65.00 euros per day. A little further out on the outskirts of the city, the prices are still around 15.00. However, there are still the daily costs for public transport to visit the Dutch metropolis. These two hotels also offer cheaper car parking spaces at the accommodation.
