Parking at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport: prices & info

Parking Amsterdam Schiphol Airport | Schiphol Airport, located near Amsterdam, is the Netherlands’ most significant commercial airport.

It is one of the largest airports in Europe and an important air traffic hub. It is used as a departure airport by business travellers, private travellers, and many holidaymakers from the Benelux countries and Germany, especially for distant destinations.

Where is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol located?

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is located in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, about 17 kilometres southwest of the centre of the Dutch capital. The official address for navigation is Evert van de Beekstraat 202, 1118 CP Schiphol, Netherlands.

  • IATA – Airport code : AMS
  • ICAO – Airport code : EHAM

How to get to the airport?

If travelling by train, the airport has its railway station and is therefore very easy to reach via Amsterdam or Utrecht, The Hague, and Rotterdam.

In my text Airport Transfer, you will find everything you need to know about the connection from Schiphol to Amsterdam Centraal station by train and the options for a bus transfer from various locations in the centre of the canal city.

Drivers can reach the airport via exit 2 Schiphol of the A4/E19 motorway.

What are the parking options at the airport?

What are the parking options at the airport?

Schiphol is a real architectural highlight. But even here, the distances are long, and finding a suitable long-term parking space might be challenging with preparation.

  • Parking garages and parking spaces at the terminal
  • Valet parking at the terminal
  • Offers for parking and flying
  • Hotel parking in conjunction with an airport shuttle

Generally, the closer to the terminal, the more expensive. However, if you arrive early and want to park longer, there are many ways to save money on your vacation.

Book parking garages at the terminal online

Amsterdam Airport itself offers various parking options. Everything is well signposted and stress-free to reach. Here is the most important information and options for direct reservation:

  • P 1 – Short-term parking up to 48 hours, with and without online booking
  • P 1 – Holiday Parking – longer than 48 hours, online booking only, partially covered
  • P 3 – Long-term parking (days 3+), covered, with and without online booking
  • P 3 – Long-term parking (days 3+), uncovered, with and without online booking
  • P 6 – Valet parking

Here is a brief overview of the advantages and disadvantages of the official parking lots near the airport:

  • ✅ Advantages: P1 is directly at the terminal, and P3 and P4 are regular and short shuttle transfers. Video surveillance 24/7, bookable directly.
  • ❌ Disadvantages: Often not well thought out, it is not necessarily the cheapest solution in terms of price.

Here is a brief overview of the parking fees for 3, 7, or 14 days. Parking in P1 is only permitted for short-term parkers up to 48 hours; after that, it costs € 100! Per day. All prices quoted are only valid for reservations booked online in advance.

P 6 - Valet parking101,00 €135,00 €165,00 €

The parking fees on site without a reservation are considerably higher. Seasonal fluctuations are also possible. Tickets for terminal parking can, therefore, be booked directly online here.

Valet parking at Amsterdam airport

Valet parking at Amsterdam airport

What exactly is valet parking? You drive to the airport and hand over your vehicle to the employee at a location previously agreed with the parking lot operator. They park your car in a safe place for your vacation. On arrival, the vehicle will return to the terminal—more for long-term parkers.

Here are a few offers with approximate prices. The prices are subject to fluctuations, and the proposal of the respective provider always applies:

P6 Valet Parking135,00 €  150,00 €Online
WeParc Valet100,00 €150,00 €Online
Dutch Parking Service90,00 €140,00 €Online

Valet parking is a very convenient solution, although less prevalent in Europe compared to the United States.

  • ✅ Advantages: Directly at the terminal, there is no lugging luggage, short walking distances, secure parking, and enough time to check in and out. Bookable directly.
  • ❌ Disadvantages: It is a practical and convenient solution to travel in comfort; unfortunately, it is slightly more expensive. Online bookings only. Please note the opening hours of WeParc Valet.

Book a car park with Holiday Extras

Are you looking for a cheap and secure parking space at the airport and still have a little time before departure? With Holiday Extras, you drive your car directly to the reception of a secure car park. You will park your car and be taken by car park staff on an internal shuttle directly to your airport terminal. The same applies to your return journey.

There are a large number of suppliers. On the various pages, you’ll also find the exact address and a map of the car parks, usually located a little way from the airport. This also helps to avoid the stress of airport traffic. Transfer time to the terminal can take up to 30 minutes. Depending on the season, prices start here at €40 per week or €60 for two weeks.

Online booking – Parking with Holiday Extras

In particular, because of the low prices and the parking security, I consider this form of long-term parking a reasonable solution, at no extra cost.

  • Advantages: Transfer directly to the terminal, secure parking, cost-effective solution, and little stress at the airport.
  • ❌ Disadvantages: Time-consuming, parking spaces are sometimes further away. Plan for transfer times of up to 30 minutes at least once.

Parking in hotel car parks without staying overnight

At Schiphol Airport, several large hotels have sufficient parking spaces for their overnight guests. However, some hotels also offer car parks for long-term parking without a booked overnight stay. Transfer to the nearby terminals is free of charge via the regular hotel shuttle service.

Buses run approximately every 30 minutes with a transfer time of around 15 minutes. All prices quoted are approximate and subject to seasonal fluctuations. The hotel’s current offer applies.

Price comparison at a glance

If you find it challenging to decide on a suitable long-term car park, here is a brief comparison of the price levels for a car park booking, such as a two-week flight from Amsterdam Schiphol.

So your personal decision criteria remain distance to the airport and valet parking, yes or no. Is it a covered or uncovered car park? Here, everyone can decide for themselves. In general, Amsterdam is located in a relatively temperate climate zone. This means little ice, snow, hail, or heavy rain. There are also no extreme heat waves in summer.

A little more wind is less likely to damage the cars. As mentioned, the quoted prices apply exclusively to car parks booked online in advance. Also, look out for current offers at Park & Fly. My favourites remain the cheap and safe Park & Fly offers from around € 60 per week and the cheap offers at the hotel car park.

📝 Note: All standard fees stated in this article are subject to change and non-binding. The current fees of the respective providers always apply. The exact parking conditions can also be found on the respective provider’s website. When arriving or departing at night, please check the opening times of the car parks. There are generally no extra charges. Prices may change at certain times, such as public holidays, school holidays, or special events.

Arrival the day before departure

There are many reasons to arrive at Schiphol the day before your departure. If you want to enjoy your flight rested, perhaps take a short detour to Amsterdam or simply not miss the plane due to heavy traffic, traffic jams, or travelling far away.

Now you can choose something from the Park, Sleep & Fly package deals or book a chic hotel near the airport individually.

Park, Sleep & Fly

So arrive at the hotel, park your car for the entire journey, sleep in once, have a delicious breakfast, and then take the free hotel shuttle to the departure counter at the terminal. You can find suitable offers for Park, Sleep & Fly on this offer page with changing suggestions.

I have some hotel recommendations if you want to book your overnight stay and choose a car park. Suppose you have selected a hotel car park at the Mercure mentioned above Amsterdam West, or Steigenberger Hotel Airport. In that case, you can book an overnight stay at the beginning or end of your trip separately here. Otherwise, I can make the following three hotel suggestions:

🏨 Van der Valk Hotel – One of the best hotels near Amsterdam airport. Great for relaxing in the pool, spa, and wellness area. Spacious rooms with every comfort. Free WLAN. • Adresse: Rijksweg A4, Nr 3, 2132 MA Hoofddorp, room 673, double room from approx. € 90,00.

Enough time for a short trip to Amsterdam?

If you are unfamiliar with Amsterdam and are arriving the day before or leaving very late in the evening, consider a short trip from the airport to the centre of the canal city. However, it would help if you allow 4 to 5 hours for this, whereby one hour each for the outward and return journey by train – tickets available here – to the Dutch capital is already a generous amount of time.

DepartureSchiphol Airport to Amsterdam Centraal, journey time max. 20 minutes, ticket

AmsterdamCompulsory canal cruise from departure point: Prins Hendrikkade, directly opposite the railway station, duration approx. 1.5 hours, ticket directly here. Afterward, there is still enough time for a walk to the nearby Singelgracht and a typical portion of Dutch fries on Damrak 41 at the Manneken Pis shop.

What’s going on at the airport?

What's going on at the airport?

If you still have some time before your departure, you won’t be bored at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The airport has a few surprises in store. Of course there is the obligatory shopping mile with all kinds of catering establishments. The typical souvenir shops with tulip bulbs, Dutch cheese or Delft Blue are of course not missing either.

An XpresSpa area offers massages, pedicures, manicures and beauty treatments, among other things. First level Lounge 2 and Pier D.

For visitors who are less familiar with the Netherlands, Holland Boulevard offers a pleasant place to spend time and get to know the art and culture of the Netherlands. Holland Boulevard is behind passport control in the connecting corridor between gates E and F. It is open daily, and admission is free. The same applies to the airport’s unique highlight, its museum. A branch of the famous Rijksmuseum in the centre of Amsterdam is also located on Holland Boulevard. Here, you can marvel at the works of famous Dutch painters. Souvenirs from the Rijksmuseum can be purchased in a nearby shop.

The Panorama Terrace in Hall 1 has also been open again since the end of 2019. Open daily from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm; in winter until 5:00 pm, closed in bad weather. Watching aeroplanes take off and land and get a breath of fresh air with paraffin is a fascinating opportunity.

Safety note

For all my suggestions, parking at the airport can be described as safe. I assume valuables should be stowed in the boot rather than visibly in the car’s interior.

Experienced car park users also leave the glove compartment open to show that there is nothing to get!
