Van Gogh Museum admission prices 2024: Online tickets & Info

Van Gogh Museum admission prices | Online-Tickets | In every single brushstroke, the viewer recognizes the irrepressible power that was undoubtedly a large part of the personality of the painter Vincent van Gogh. Unfortunately, the source of his talent was also his weakness: the artist struggled with depression. Nevertheless, the incredible fusion of style and content into a dramatic and imaginative body of work is due to his highly sensitive emotionality.

Important information in advance: Tickets can only be purchased online. There are no box offices.

The Dutchman, born in 1853, not only painted his surroundings but also imbued each picture with empathetic depth and genuine feeling. Self-destructive and unstable as he was, he flourished in his art and left behind an impressive body of work in just ten years of artistic creation.

He died in 1890 at the age of just 37. He impulsively and gesturally painted colours side by side, which had symbolic value for him and expressed his feelings. Nowadays, he is regarded as a pioneer of abstract expressionism.

Waiting times at the Van Gogh Museum

Waiting times at the Van Gogh Museum

For various reasons, the number of simultaneous visitors to the Van Gogh Museum is limited. These include technical restrictions, space or air conditioning, and security issues. The constantly high number of visitors to both the museum and the temporary exhibitions regularly exceeds the capacity of the exhibition building.

To spread the flow of visitors throughout the day, admission tickets with time slots are sold online in advance. This means there are few waiting times at the entrance. Excessive crowding in the exhibition rooms is avoided, and a visit to the museum becomes an experience for every visitor.

It is not possible to buy tickets on-site. Tickets are only available online!

Many of Amsterdam’s attractions deliberately prioritise ticket sales to manage visitor numbers. This has proven successful and works very well, as the prices of pre-purchased online and on-site tickets are the same everywhere, except for a few minimal differences.
