Online tickets for attractions in Amsterdam | Amsterdam remains one of Europe’s most popular metropolises for tourists, primarily due to its world-famous canal belt and unique museums with works of Dutch painting by Rembrandt and Van Gogh. More than 15 million visitors travel to the Dutch capital yearly to discover its historic sights and international and multicultural flair.
Amsterdam is extremely conveniently located in terms of transport links and can be reached quickly and easily. Schiphol Airport is the third largest airport in Europe and is served by many scheduled and low-cost airlines simultaneously. Amsterdam Centraal, the canal city’s central railway station, is just a few metres from the city’s famous canals. Cruise ships can easily dock in the nearby harbour, and guests can reach the city on foot. Many canal cruises depart near the railway station and harbour. Amsterdam is fully connected to the European motorway network.
Even if finding a parking space is difficult and expensive, countless tourists still travel to the city by car. Ensure you find a parking space via Mobypark or Parclick. An inexpensive suggestion would be the car parks directly at the Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandtpark or the Hotel Leonardo Royal Amsterdam described in the article Finding a car park above. The car parks can be booked with or without a hotel reservation and are located just outside the city centre and from here you can quickly reach the sights of Canal City by public transport. Several trams stop outside the car parks!
As entrance capacities are limited, especially at closed attractions such as museums or visitor magnets like Madame Tussauds, visitors always have exceptionally long waiting times.

During the opening period of the famous Keukenhof, it is also highly recommended that you buy your tickets in advance.
On the information pages, you will find an overview of the sights, further information on admission prices and the exact opening times.
Prices for young people and children can also be found on the provider’s website.
Many attractions in Amsterdam can only sometimes cope with the number of visitors. In exhibition buildings, in particular, there are official restrictions on the number of people allowed in a building at any one time. This is due to structural engineering, safety issues, public regulations, or climatic and sanitary conditions.
❌ Online tickets are generally no more expensive than tickets on-site.
Some museums, such as the Van Gogh Museum or the Heineken Experience, try to spread the flow of visitors throughout the day with special admission windows. Here, guests with tickets booked online in advance always have priority entry, so that they can get a good overview of the expected crowds.
Online tickets for the Anne Frank House
Since 2018, Amsterdam’s most important attraction, the Anne Frank House, has only been open to visitors who have made an online reservation in advance for access during a specific time slot. Tickets are no longer sold on-site. Admission tickets are only offered for approx. One month in advance. All critical information can be found in the article on the Anne Frank House. If you are interested, try the museum’s ticket page directly. You can find the link here.
Tickets cost €16.00 for adults, young people aged 10 to 17 pay €7.00, and children up to 9 pay €1.00.
Amsterdam Tickets – Recommended
For the top sights, I strongly recommend buying tickets online in advance for the reasons mentioned above. Amsterdam has now become a year-round destination for tourists. So, even in a supposedly low season, the planning for the city tour can quickly be disrupted by surprisingly long waiting times. Buying tickets in advance is also recommended for these attractions.
Attraction | Price* | Ticket |
---|---|---|
Canal cruise | 16.00 € | Book Online |
Canal cruise near Museumsplatz | 15.50 € | Book Online |
Amsterdam Museum | 18.00 € | Book Online |

The canal cruises are the most popular attraction in Amsterdam. There are many providers and various departure points in Amsterdam’s canal belt. Online ticket holders do not have priority access to the boat but can avoid queuing at the ticket counter.
Some museums could be more well-known, such as the modern and contemporary art museum Moco or the Hermitage, the branch of the world-famous Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, Russia. Top works from the Russian Museum are exhibited here in changing exhibitions. In the 17th century, Tsar Peter the Great fell in love with Amsterdam, and a connection between the Netherlands and Russia that still exists today was forged. The museum was opened in June 2009 in a magnificent 17th-century building on the banks of the Amstel. The exhibitions with remarkable works from the Russian collection are extremely popular, and visitors’ interest is correspondingly high.
Amsterdam Tickets – Other
For other attractions in Amsterdam, buying an online ticket in advance offers a pleasant planning security but is unnecessary. More interesting in this context are the respective discount cards, which grant direct access and discounts on admission.

There is a lot to see in Amsterdam. When making bookings, always check whether you have to book a specific time slot for access; otherwise, it will not be easy to visit the city as planned.
Apart from the Royal Palace, here are some somewhat quirky suggestions for a museum visit in Amsterdam:
- Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum Amsterdam – Tickets
- The Cat Cabinet – Tickets
- Ripley’s Believe It or Not – Tickets
Discount card holders receive an additional discount of around 10-20% when booking a ticket for some of these attractions in addition to priority admission. Find out more in the Amsterdam Passes section.
Online tickets are also an advantage for visitors who are only staying in Amsterdam for a very short time, as they save time and can start sightseeing immediately. If you want to be mobile when you arrive in Amsterdam, you can also buy tickets for the famous city tours in advance with the Hop-On Hop-Off bus.

Online combi tickets for Amsterdam
All tickets listed here can also be booked in combination with another attraction. The principle of priority entry also applies here. There are plenty of offers on the info pages, the most highly recommended online tickets. Combination tickets with a visit to an attraction, a canal cruise, a hop-on hop-off bus, or a boat tour can be redeemed on a different day.
If you are more interested in fun than art and culture, the combination ticket of Madame Tussauds and Dungeon Amsterdam mentioned above is the most attractive offer. With prices of around €22.00 for the individual tickets, the combined ticket is a little cheaper if there are any fees.

Online tickets for the Keukenhof
The Keukenhof is a magnificent garden complex about 30 kilometres southwest of Amsterdam near Lisse. The flower park is one of the Netherlands’ most beautiful and famous sights, especially during the tulip blossom season. With almost one million visitors a year, you shouldn’t be surprised to see long queues at the ticket counters. That’s why tickets are only available online and must be booked in advance.
There are many ways to get to Keukenhof in Lisse from Amsterdam. Whether you travel by car, bus, or public transport, you will find everything you need to know and the correct booking options under Top Attractions in the corresponding articles on Keukenhof.

Notes on Amsterdam online tickets
Due to the rapid increase in annual visitors to Amsterdam in recent years, the problem of long queues in front of significant attractions must be underestimated. The only way to avoid this problem is to buy an online ticket in advance, as it gives you direct access to the attraction on a specific date during a booked time slot without having to queue. With online tickets with a date and time slot, queueing at the ticket counter is necessary. As mentioned, online tickets are no more expensive than those purchased on-site.
You can assemble your visit plan for Amsterdam at home with online tickets. All documents are made available digitally by email. There is no postal dispatch with the risk of delays or even loss of a consignment. If vouchers need to be redeemed on-site, clear information about the location and opening hours is provided in the confirmations from the providers. Amsterdam is not very large compared to other tourist strongholds; everything is centrally located and easily accessible, even without public transport. The canal belt is also always a good guide.
Unfortunately, even traditional travel guides rarely refer to the increased number of visitors in Amsterdam and the associated waiting times. Some of these are older editions, or the general conditions, such as budget airlines and cruise ships, have changed rapidly in recent years.
✅ It is also important for car drivers to look for a parking space online, either via Parclick or Mobypark, to avoid any surprises.
*All prices stated on this page are subject to change. The current offer on the provider’s website always applies. Discounts and reductions for children are possible at any time. The provider’s website can also find all contents and further details of the respective ticket offers.
