Moco Museum in Amsterdam – On the Museumplein, Amsterdam’s famous museum square, the Moco Museum is one of the most popular modern and contemporary art attractions, alongside the two flagship museums, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum.
It’s a miniature museum, so you should get your visitor tickets early. This blog also has a detailed article about the Moco Museum, including opening times. You can find all the details about tickets here.
Modern art from our time with Banksy – Highlights
An impressive collection of contemporary art awaits you at the Moco Museum Amsterdam. The works of artists such as Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, and Jeff Koons reflect modern society humorously and ironically. In addition to exhibits by these and other personalities, you will find the most important works of the famous London street artist Banksy in the Moco Museum Amsterdam.
While he used to be labelled a vandal, he is one of the most influential artists in this field today. You can get an idea of his political street art with a dash of humour from highlights such as Girl with Balloon and Keep It Real. The large painting Beanfield is a particular eye-catcher in the Banksy exhibition.
How much does admission to the Moco Museum cost?
You can choose tickets for individuals combined with a canal cruise, admission with a discount card, something a little more unusual, and an Instagram photo spots tour. The decorative photo motifs in the Moco Museum are the highlight of this particular tour.
Admission for individuals to the Moco Museum
As with many other museums, only a certain number of visitors are allowed in the Moco at any time. If there is high demand, tickets can often be sold out for the day in advance. So, to ensure secure entry and avoid queues, it is always best to buy tickets in advance.

Admission Moco Museum & Instagram photo spots tour
A unique atmosphere creates a memorable museum experience with many works from private collections. Museums sometimes have a reputation for being rather dusty and dull. Not so the Moco Museum Amsterdam. This is due to the exhibits, but the surroundings are also impressive. The Villa Alsberg is a magnificent building that impresses every visitor and offers a museum tour in an extraordinary atmosphere. After you have explored the interior, be sure to take a stroll through the Moco Garden. In addition to changing exhibitions with beautiful sculptures, you will also come across a red gummy bear.
The Instagram phenomenon continues beyond sightseeing tours. To share your Amsterdam experience with others, the best snapshots should appear on your Instagram account. The images from the Moco Museum will help you with this. Look into the future with Studio Irma X. The Digital Immersive Art exhibition is accompanied by music and colourful lights. Its motto is Reflecting Forward. There is also an exhibition space dedicated to Yayoi Kusama and the JR Room with The Gun Chronicles.
A professional photographer will help you choose the perfect photo spots here and at various locations in the fantastic canal city.

Can I buy the tickets on-site?
Yes, you can buy tickets on-site. But as mentioned, many tickets for specific time slots or the whole day are sold out in advance due to admission restrictions. There is then no guarantee of prompt access to the exhibition rooms. The museum itself refers to online tickets, which are no more expensive.
Free entry to the Moco Museum
Only children and young people under 13 have free admission to the Moco Museum. Holders of the above-mentioned I Amsterdam City Card also do not need to pay an additional entrance fee. Unfortunately, everyone else has to pay an entrance fee, but it’s worth it!
For people with disabilities
There are no concessions on admission for people with reduced mobility or other disabilities. It should be noted that there are many steps in the building and no lift. The museum is, therefore, unfortunately not accessible for wheelchair users. Free admission will be granted if these people come in conjunction with other museum visitors.
For groups in Amsterdam
For groups of more than 16 people, the current admission price is € 16.00 per person. To complete the Moco Museum visit, a guided tour can also be booked for a one-off fee of approx. € 100.00. Please enquire about bookings and everything else by email: support@mocomuseum.com

How do I get into the museum with the tickets – QR code?
Everything with online tickets is easy, quick, and convenient. You can book tours from the comfort of your home or while travelling. After booking online, you will receive an email with a QR code. You can print your voucher or show the QR code on your smartphone. This applies to almost all sights, museums, and attractions that can be booked online in advance.
✅ Tipp: The advantage of the mobile voucher is that you can also reserve tickets on-site for the same day. Many visitors overestimate the possibility of getting tickets on-site for direct access without having to book in advance and without waiting times. If you can’t get a ticket in the morning, you can try with your smartphone for the afternoon or the next day.

With year-round core opening hours from 9:00 to 19:00 / 20:00, a visit to the Moco Museum can quickly be scheduled for the late afternoon or early evening. Most of the other large and famous museums on Museum Square, such as the Rijksmuseum or Van Gogh Museum, receive their last visitors between 17:00 and 18:00. The ticket provider Tiqets also often offers time slots with admission at 20:00 for the Moco Museum.
Newsletter & Social Media
Another feature that makes the Moco Museum so unique is that many works are on loan from private collections. Art lovers, therefore, only very rarely get to see them. This is made possible by an excellent international network of art collectors that the two initiators, Lionel and Kim Logchies, have built up. With your visit, you can also indirectly support a good cause, as part of the proceeds is donated to charitable organisations.
For example, Moco is a partner of Movement On The Ground (MOTG), a non-profit organisation that aims to improve the living conditions of refugees. If you would like to find out more about Moco, the museum, its exhibitions and its humanitarian commitment, you can subscribe to a newsletter. Regarding contemporary art, the Moco Museum is an absolute top address. Especially for Banksy fans, a visit is a must on a trip to Amsterdam.
